Trump’s Unique Guest Appearance on Second Lady’s Podcast

President Donald Trump joined Usha Vance on her podcast, ‘Storytime with the Second Lady,’ where he read a children’s book and offered commentary on various topics. The episode, posted online Friday, features Trump discussing predecessors, his physical condition, and life at the White House.

During the podcast, Trump read ‘Presidents Play!’, a children’s book from the White House Historical Association. This book illustrates presidents enjoying recreational activities at the White House. Trump conducted his pretaped reading in mid-June within the Oval Office, decorated with gold accents, a bald eagle stuffed animal, stacks of oversized books, and a Lego globe for the occasion.

When Vance asked Trump about his leisure reading habits as president, he mentioned that he mostly reads newspapers. ‘I usually read stories about myself,’ Trump remarked. As he proceeded through the book, he shared thoughts on former presidents and humorously referenced the ballroom he is building on the White House grounds.

Trump characterized past presidents with remarks such as Lyndon Johnson being a ‘tough cookie,’ Ronald Reagan as a ‘high-quality person’, and John F. Kennedy as the ‘second-most good-looking president,’ leaving ambiguity about the first. About Richard Nixon, Trump acknowledged, ‘got himself into trouble, I guess.’ Regarding Herbert Hoover, Trump jested about Hoover’s improvised game ‘Hoover Ball,’ noting it was more successful for him than the economy.

Trump commented on Barack Obama, illustrated playing basketball, referring to him as ‘Barack Hussein Obama,’ and challenging his basketball skills. Trump also mentioned Obama’s affinity for golf, humorously doubting his prospects in the prestigious Masters tournament.

Upon seeing Bill Clinton depicted jogging, Trump stated he likely wouldn’t join him but expressed fondness for Clinton. After viewing Abraham Lincoln riding a horse, Trump mused about horse riding, suggesting he might consider an ‘old, slow horse.’
