Two Men Fatally Shot Outside Gay Bar in Tucson

1 hour ago 0

Two men were killed outside a gay bar in Tucson, Arizona early Monday morning, in what police are investigating as a potential hate crime.

The gunman confronted the victims in the parking lot of Venture-N, a midtown Tucson bar, and opened fire. Police identified the deceased as Vincent Anthony Siqueiros, 42, and Cameron Davis Capara, 33, both pronounced dead onsite.

The alleged shooter, Ousman Ceesay, 44, was found with gunshot wounds and later died at a nearby hospital. Authorities are uncertain if he inflicted the wounds upon himself.

Ceesay was carrying a note listing various L.G.B.T.Q.-friendly establishments, suggesting potential targeting. In response, police have enhanced patrols around L.G.B.T.Q. venues citywide.

Public records indicate that Ceesay resided in Oklahoma City and had a clean criminal record, aside from a speeding ticket in 2012. He filed for bankruptcy with his ex-wife in 2018. Attempts to contact her yielded no results. The bankruptcy petition disclosed that he was briefly employed as a driver for Uber and Lyft.

Tucson Mayor Regina Romero described the shooting as a “direct and devastating attack on our L.G.B.T.Q. community” in a video statement. She emphasized that the incident highlights the ongoing problem of homophobia in the country.
