White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that she will leave her position at the end of the month to focus on her family. President Trump confirmed the news on Wednesday, stating that Leavitt will remain an external adviser.

President Trump described Leavitt as a valuable aide and respected her decision to spend more time with her children. “Our wonderful White House Press Secretary and one of my most trusted aides, Karoline Leavitt, will be departing her role at the end of the month so she can spend more time with her beautiful young children and family,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

At 28, Leavitt made history as the youngest White House press secretary. She had recently concluded parental leave following the birth of her second child in May.

On social media, Leavitt explained her decision. “Since returning to the White House after the birth of my daughter, I have felt that I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while giving the constant time, energy, and attention the role of White House Press Secretary requires.” She expressed that this realization led to the “bittersweet decision” to step down and start a new chapter.
