The Democratic primary for governor in Wisconsin proved to be exceptionally close. On Tuesday, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley narrowly secured the nomination. He defeated Francesca Hong, a socialist candidate, by a margin of about 3,800 votes.
The primary saw approximately 792,000 votes cast. Two weeks prior, polls indicated Hong had a lead exceeding 20 points. However, the margin tightened significantly as mainstream Democrats consolidated their support behind the more electable moderate, Crowley.
