Authorities Launch Search Mission

Law enforcement officers are in pursuit of a young girl, aged five, reportedly kidnapped by her father. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is leading the search effort following the Sunday incident.

An AMBER Alert has been dispatched for Amaya Meithof. She was taken from a home in Carson City, Nevada, at around 4:36 a.m. on Sunday. Authorities suspect her to be with her father, Christopher Meithof, aged 41, who previously resided in Federal Way, Washington. The direction of travel is believed to be toward Quartz Hill, California.

Details about the Suspect and Vehicle

Officials have requested public assistance to identify the suspect’s vehicle. It is a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee with an Oregon license plate, 576 QNU.

The suspect, Meithof, is described as approximately 6 feet tall, weighing around 170 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

The missing child, Amaya Meithof, was last seen wearing a blue princess nightgown. Authorities indicated she has common allergies but is otherwise healthy.

Public records examined by Newsweek reveal Christopher Meithof is currently on parole. His criminal history includes convictions for burglary and weapons possession.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office authenticated that he is the father of the abducted child, but they lacked further details to offer by midday Monday about the search.

Emotional Plea for Assistance

Amaya’s mother, Crystal Rose, has made heartfelt appeals on social media, seeking the public’s cooperation in locating her daughter.

“He came to visit her and took her and disappeared,” she expressed on Facebook. “I didn’t want it to come to this but this is not how we do things.”

She further urged, “Please share this post with everyone you know. Please help me bring my peachy home safe.”

Efforts to contact Meithof by midday Monday yielded no responses. Rose also did not respond immediately to a request for additional comments.
