The issue of Medicare and Medicaid fraud has drawn attention from the current administration. Recently, Mehmet Oz, U.S. Administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, addressed this concern alongside Vice President JD Vance during a press conference. The discussion centered on new ‘anti-fraud initiatives’ implemented to tackle this growing problem. According to Oz, an estimated $100 billion in fraudulent activities occurs annually within Medicaid.
Oz highlighted the administration’s dedication to combating these violations. He stated that the federal government is fully committed to targeting healthcare fraudsters, aiming to protect American families and patients. A recent action taken by his agency involved the closure of 800 hospices in Los Angeles. These hospices were reportedly involved in fraudulent activities, receiving $1.4 billion in payments for services that were allegedly not provided.
Published by the Manhattan Institute, City Journal has reported extensively on urban policy matters. The ongoing efforts of the administration focus on reducing fraudulent practices and holding perpetrators accountable, ensuring that legitimate patients and services receive the support they need.
