Calls for Apology from Maine Senate Candidate Graham Platner

Bar Harbor, Maine — On Friday, Rep. Ro Khanna from California emphasized the need for Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner to apologize to women who accused him of disturbing behavior. In an interview with NBC News, Khanna expressed disapproval of the alleged actions by Platner, as reported by The New York Times.

Khanna noted Platner’s efforts toward redemption. When prompted about Platner issuing an apology, Khanna agreed, saying, “I think he should apologize. I believe what he did was wrong, was misogynistic, was toxic or volatile. I know he’s ashamed of it and I certainly think it would be appropriate to apologize and say how he now understands why it’s important to stand up to a misogynistic culture.”

Three women described unwanted experiences with Platner during their previous relationships. Lyndsey Fifield claimed Platner twisted her arm and confined her in a bedroom, demanding her to stay calm before releasing her. Platner refuted allegations of physical abuse.

In a Thursday interview with MS NOW, Platner dismissed some of the claims, stating, “Anything alleging physicality, anything alleging that I knew what my tattoo was, these are the statements of someone who’s politically motivated.” Fifield is known for her work with conservative groups and Republican campaigns.

Khanna, a prominent national supporter of Platner, defended Platner during a public event, highlighting accountability and personal growth. Khanna stated, “He understood that those years that he came back were not the best years of his life. Then he, unlike others, took accountability for it. And he’s worked to be a better man, a better human being.”
