Micah Parsons Eyes Return After Injury Setback

2 weeks ago 0

Pro Bowl linebacker Micah Parsons is preparing for a return to the field in the upcoming season. His previous campaign with the Green Bay Packers ended abruptly due to injury. The 2021 Defensive Rookie of the Year tore his ACL against the Denver Broncos, missing the remainder of the season and his team’s NFL Playoffs game.

In the playoff matchup, Caleb Williams led the Chicago Bears to victory over the Packers. Parsons, unable to contribute, watched from the sidelines. With a new season approaching, the NFL is rolling out its latest top 100 players list, where Parsons attracted attention for his brief comment in a promotional teaser. The video showcases NFL players naming who they think is the top player in the league, and Parsons is seen saying “Iceman,” Williams’ nickname. He later explained that it was out of context.

An extended clip of Parsons emerged online, showing admiration for Williams and his career accomplishments. “I can’t lie. The celly and everything is super great,” Parsons remarked. “He really sped his clock up. He wasn’t taking as many sacks, and he felt confidence in his system.” Parsons stressed, “I always want to see people succeed, regardless of who they play for, but just don’t want them to succeed against me.”

Parsons issued a playful warning in the new NFL video, “Where there’s ice, there’s also fire, and I’m the fire.” His competitive nature highlights his full embrace of the Bears-Packers rivalry. Last season, Chicago gained the upper hand, with a regular-season OT win and playoff victory against Green Bay, while Parsons was out with his injury.

Chicago ended the season 11-6, securing the NFC North and the No. 2 seed in the conference. Green Bay finished just behind at 9-7-1, with some attributing the Packers’ injuries, including Jordan Love sitting out, to Chicago’s advantage and gaining homefield for early postseason games.

Parsons played in one match against the Bears last season, a 28-21 win for Green Bay. In that game, he had one tackle, and teammate Kingsley Enagbare recorded the sole sack on Williams. The Bears clinched the second regular-season meeting in a 22-16 overtime win, with Parsons absent due to his injury. His return could be scheduled for Week 5 or Week 6 of the upcoming season, potentially allowing participation in one or both of the heated rivalry games for the 2026-27 campaign.
