Senator Graham and UFC CEO Criticize Fighter’s Comments on Michelle Obama

1 week ago 0

Senator Lindsey Graham and UFC CEO Dana White have expressed their disapproval of comments made by UFC heavyweight Josh Hokit. These remarks were directed towards former First Lady Michelle Obama after Hokit’s victory at the UFC Freedom 250 event held at the White House.

Hokit’s statement has provoked strong reactions due to its perpetuation of a false conspiracy theory concerning Michelle Obama. Following his triumph against Derrick Lewis, he acknowledged President Donald Trump for hosting the event and concluded his interview with UFC commentator Joe Rogan by questioning, “Michelle Obama is a man, am I right, America?”

Lindsey Graham conveyed to TMZ that Hokit’s comments were inappropriate, labeling the fighter as an “idiot.” Graham noted, “It detracted from the event’s significance. It was an enjoyable occasion meant to celebrate America’s founding and our national identity. It showcased modern-day gladiators engaging in fierce competition yet demonstrating mutual respect and sportsmanship. Hokit’s statement undermined that spirit.”

Graham further commented on his initial reaction to Hokit’s words, emphasizing, “The guy was an idiot.”

UFC CEO Dana White also criticized Hokit’s remarks, expressing his stance to Time magazine through a text message. White stated, “Although the Obamas are public figures, I strongly oppose the spread of malicious and false claims about their family. While I advocate for free speech, I detest such nonsense.”
