Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to Visit Britain with Parents

7 days ago 0

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are expected to accompany their parents, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, on a visit to Britain in July. This visit may offer them their first chance to see their grandfather, King Charles III, in four years.

Harry’s return to his home country is anticipated due to events marking the lead-up to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. Reports from News.co.au and Britain’s Daily Telegraph suggest Harry will bring Meghan, as well as Archie, aged 7, and Lilibet, aged 5. A meeting with King Charles is likely being planned.

Significance of the Visit

King Charles has not seen his grandchildren since 2022 during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. For Lilibet, now five, it was her only visit, at just one year old. This visit could help the children establish lasting memories of their grandfather.

King Charles’s Eagerness

Afua Hagan, a U.K.-based royal commentator, told Newsweek: “The fact that both Harry and Meghan are coming, with their children, is significant. I believe this increases the chances of a meeting with King Charles because he would love to see his grandchildren.”

Such a meeting could signal progress in repairing the strained relationship between Harry and his father. This rift widened after Harry and Meghan publicly criticized the royal family and monarchy in various media, including an interview with Oprah Winfrey, their Netflix series, and Harry’s book “Spare.”

Impact of Harry’s Police Protection

Harry has often highlighted the need for Metropolitan Police protection to safely bring his family to the U.K. His protection was removed in February 2020 after stepping back from royal duties. A system was established by the U.K. Home Office where protection is sometimes provided for official events.

With news that the children might join the visit, this suggests a meeting with the king could be on the horizon though no official confirmation was provided to Newsweek.

“That suggests an invite from the palace,” Hagan noted. “Such a security arrangement implies that Harry’s requested protection has been afforded, indicating an invitation from the King.”

Harry seems satisfied with current security, allowing him to bring Meghan and his family to Britain. This fulfills his wish to introduce his children to his home country.

Developing Relations Between Harry and the King

A potential improvement in the relationship between Harry and Charles emerged shortly after Harry’s BBC interview. Senior aides for both King and Harry met in London at the Royal Over-Seas League, sparking reconciliation speculation when photos appeared.

By September, Harry and Charles met at Clarence House, marking their first interpersonal meeting since 2024, the same year Charles disclosed a cancer diagnosis. Harry, earlier expressing a desire for reconciliation, noted “there’s no point in continuing to fight anymore” during his BBC interview.

The healing relationship seems primarily between Charles and Harry. Should Meghan and the children experience a warm reception from the King, it could represent a meaningful step forward.

In the long run, Prince William’s tougher stance might present an obstacle to full reconciliation since he reportedly supports maintaining the Sussexes’ exclusion from royal life.
