Timothee Chalamet has returned to work after supporting the New York Knicks throughout a long playoff run. He will collaborate with Selena Gomez in the upcoming Illumination animated film, “Not Alone,” set to release in 2027.
In the Universal Studios movie, Chalamet will voice Joe, an introverted rocket mechanic who leads a solitary life. Gomez will play Fran, a brilliant astro-botanist developing the world’s first plant-fueled rocket, according to Deadline.
Announced at the Annecy Film Festival in France, the film’s synopsis reveals that Joe and Fran are united to prepare for the revolutionary rocket’s inaugural launch. Sparks fly between them, but neither excels at romance. Their lives are further complicated when three aliens—Dunk, Welly, and Shirm—find refuge in Joe’s home. The aliens are fleeing Zandro, a zealous yet inept law officer, and see Fran’s rocket as their ticket to safety.
Eric Guillon, co-director of “Despicable Me 3,” will helm the film. The announcement surprised many fans, with comments like “Insane pairing we all never expected” and “Illumination doing a movie with those two is a pretty unexpected combination.” Others joked about Chalamet’s frequent presence in major conversations.
One social media user expressed excitement, saying, “This plot sounds so chaotic and cute at the same time, I’m seated!” Another noted potential drama involving Kylie Jenner, referencing the 2024 Golden Globes Awards rumor about Gomez wanting a picture with Chalamet and Jenner allegedly intervening.
In a TMZ interview, Chalamet clarified his relationship with Gomez, affirming they are on good terms. He denied any bad blood between his girlfriend and Gomez.
While the picture rumor remains unresolved, fans can look forward to Chalamet and Gomez sharing the screen in “Not Alone.”
