The Ole Miss Rebels experienced a standout season, yet star running back Kewan Lacy did not consider it a complete success. In a conversation with Fox News Digital, Lacy noted, “I grade it based off of that – that the ultimate prize wasn’t won.”
Despite challenges like Lane Kiffin’s exit to LSU before the playoffs, the team demonstrated resilience. They faced uncertainty as many assistant coaches also left for LSU, which could have disrupted their postseason.
We still came up short in the season. The main goal is to get to that national title. But we never really let the outside noise get to us. We just tried to focus on game by game,Lacy explained.
Lacy emphasized the business aspect of football, highlighting the importance of playing regardless of off-field changes. He stated, “At the end of the day, we’re on the field and playing football, whether our coaches are there or not.”
In pursuit of a national title, Lacy will utilize the Q-Collar this season. This FDA-cleared device helps protect the brain during repeated head impacts in sports. Worn around the neck, it provides light pressure to minimize brain movement during football activities.
Lacy credited his mother for introducing the Q-Collar. “She found it, saw other players using it, and thought it would be beneficial for me and my brother,” he shared. This equipment enables Lacy to explore innovative ways to ensure his safety and improve field performance.
Already recognized as an All-American, Lacy is equipped with additional protection on the field. With the return of key players like Trinidad Chambliss, expectations remain high for the Rebels.
Reflecting on the upcoming season, Lacy expressed optimism. “Going into this year with our new staff and pieces, I feel like we just got to take it game by game, and this year I feel like we can go even farther,” he stated.
We can finish the deal. I just can’t wait,he added.
