Crews are fighting a massive fire in Allentown, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday night. Residents close to the blaze received evacuation instructions as the situation unfolds.
According to Lehigh County Dispatch, the fire ignited at an old commercial building around 8:40 p.m. The flames extended to a nearby home, intensifying the emergency response.
PPL Electric Utilities has cut power in the vicinity, leaving approximately 3,600 customers without electricity. This measure was taken to ensure safety and facilitate the firefighters’ efforts.
Authorities are advising Allentown residents to remain in place while emergency teams work to control the fire. Specifically, individuals residing on the 300 block of Front Street should leave their homes through their backyards as a precaution.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported at this stage.
