Opinion: The Pistons made an excellent choice in the draft to support Cade Cunningham. Their primary need for the 2026 season was to offer Cunningham relief and assistance, successfully addressed by drafting Okorie. The decision to move up and secure Okorie was bold but noteworthy, adding an elite point guard to the roster. Had Okorie been available during the previous playoff run, Detroit might have advanced even further.

Securing a complementary player for Cunningham was a necessary step. As the Pistons continue to shape their roster, they are in a position to advance deeper into the playoffs in the upcoming season.
