Judge Challenges Government Over Trump’s Golf Course Plans

In a courtroom confrontation, Federal Judge Ana C. Reyes questioned a Justice Department attorney about former President Trump’s intentions to develop a new golf course in Washington. The judge demanded more concrete information on proposed construction plans.

On Thursday, Judge Reyes expressed her frustration as the government representative, Michael Robertson, failed to offer clear details on the timeline or vision for the project at East Potomac Golf Links. This event highlighted frequent clashes between federal judges and the Trump administration during his second term. These conflicts often arose over unauthorized initiatives.

Judge Reyes pointed out that Trump had a history of launching projects without complete transparency. She compared the golf course plans to Trump’s discreet renovations of the White House, where a new ballroom was being built.

“I am not going to allow the president and officials to make public statements that differ from what they assert in court,” Judge Reyes remarked.

The judge dismissed the government’s claims that no progress had been made on the project. She noted that Trump seemed determined to transform the land into a professional-level golf course, aiming for it to host major tournaments.
