An Ecuadorian immigrant, Wilfrido Alberto Maurath Tacuri, has been arrested in East Hampton, accused of multiple rapes. The East Hampton Town Police Detective Division led the investigation that resulted in his arrest.
Authorities have charged Tacuri, aged 49, with three counts of rape. Police responded to a residence on Muir Boulevard near Three Mile Harbor, after a victim reported being raped on several occasions, as per News12.
Tacuri is an undocumented immigrant from Ecuador. His date and location of entry into the United States remain unknown. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shared this information with The Post. A DHS spokesperson emphasized, “Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin, criminal illegal aliens are not welcome in the United States.”
Tacuri was held at police headquarters with a scheduled arraignment at East Hampton Town Justice Court. The investigation into the case is still active. Mugshot photos indicated Tacuri appeared visibly distressed.
This arrest occurs amid East Hampton’s recent enactment of local laws limiting police cooperation with federal immigration authorities regarding civil immigration enforcement.
In June, Rep. Nick LaLota (R-NY) threatened to withhold $9 million in federal funds for infrastructure improvements in East Hampton Town and East Hampton Village based on these sanctuary policies.
The East Hampton Town Police Department was unavailable for comment on the matter.
