Trump spoke for thirty minutes, warning against growing dangers from the political left. Communism is a mortal threat to American liberty, Trump claimed, asserting it as the greatest challenge to the country compared to historic events like World Ward I and II, Pearl Harbor, and 9/11.

His remarks align with a theme of criticism, especially following electoral wins by progressive Democrats in important primaries ahead of the 2026 midterms.

Discussions Around Trump’s Image on Rushmore

The idea of adding Trump to Mount Rushmore has been discussed for years. Former South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem recalled Trump stating in a 2018 Oval Office meeting that his dream was to have his face carved into the mountain. Trump later addressed this publicly in a 2019 interview, joking that a direct response would lead to such bad publicity. In 2020, after rumors that he had brought up the idea, Trump denied proposing it but mentioned on social media: Never suggested it, although based on all of the many things accomplished during the first 3 1/2 years, perhaps more than any other Presidency, sounds like a good idea to me!

White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers commented to The Washington Post about the possibility of adding Trump to Mount Rushmore, stating There would be no better addition to the iconic Mount Rushmore than the 45th and 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump. However, known space limitations complicate such an addition.

The Theodore Roosevelt Center at Dickinson State University archived a letter sent to Eleanor Roosevelt in which Mount Rushmore’s sculptor, Gutzon Borglum, mentioned that further additions would be impossible due to stone limitations are so serious.
