California Governor Gavin Newsom’s office has issued a statement following the Supreme Court’s decision on state bans concerning transgender athletes in girls’ sports. The ruling, which upheld existing state laws preventing males from participating in women’s sports, sparked intense debate among various commentators and activists.

In May, Hernandez competed in the California State Championship, winning two track and field state titles for the second consecutive year.
