Judge Tony Graf of Utah’s Fourth District Court is overseeing a significant case this week. Less than a year into his tenure, Graf is determining if sufficient evidence exists to proceed with a trial for Tyler Robinson, accused of killing activist Charlie Kirk.
Appointed by Governor Spencer Cox in August 2025, Graf served as a prosecutor in Davis and Utah counties, the latter being where Kirk was killed. In a statement, Governor Cox praised Graf’s ethics and judgment. Graf holds a law degree from the University of Utah and a master’s in criminal justice from Weber State University.
Since taking the bench, Graf has handled cases of child sexual abuse and threats against officials, including Governor Cox. In the Kirk case, the hearing commenced Monday and is ongoing.
