A Georgia manhunt lasting ten hours ended successfully on Tuesday after law enforcement, assisted by a bloodhound, apprehended a suspect accused of shooting the mother of his child and fleeing. The suspect, Darian Berry Sr., aged 46, identified as a convicted felon, was captured as reported by the Butts County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred on Tuesday morning in Flovilla, located approximately 50 miles south of Atlanta. A statement from the sheriff’s office emphasized the determination of law enforcement and the effectiveness of tracking bloodhounds, which were instrumental in Berry’s capture.
Berry’s charges included a range of allegations from attempted confinement of the victim to arson and stalking. When deputies initially responded to the domestic incident involving Berry, he reportedly escaped on foot and was suspected to be armed, leading to a significant search effort.
A BOLO alert was issued to help locate Berry, while the Georgia Department of Corrections K-9 Unit bloodhound was crucial in tracking and finding him.
Berry now faces numerous charges such as aggravated assault, stalking, firearm possession, obstruction, multiple counts of arson, as well as battery, family violence, and false imprisonment.
