After over half a century, the New York Knicks have won their first NBA championship, triggering citywide celebrations in New York City. Crowds of fans thronged the streets of Manhattan for a ticker-tape parade, transforming an ordinary Thursday into a festive day in honor of their triumphant team.
Jazz Chisholm Jr., the New York Yankees second baseman, is motivated by the Knicks’ success as he approaches the second half of the 2026 MLB season. In 2024, Chisholm and the Yankees were close to ending a championship drought but were stopped by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series. Chisholm recently experienced the joy of a New York title parade as the Knicks broke their 53-year dry spell, filling the city and surrounding areas with sheer joy and emotion.
Chisholm stated to Fox News Digital that his conversations with Knicks players during their celebration enhanced his determination to win a championship. “I talked to Jalen about it, and hearing how he describes the experience, gave me goosebumps. It’s a feeling we all want,” Chisholm said, during his collaboration with Corona’s Beach Connect Series.
Jazz speaks to his teammates and the Knicks about winning. “I talk to my boys about it, and we’re all in.”
As a future free agent, Chisholm is focused on the present in hopes of securing a postseason spot for the Yankees. The team, despite challenges, gained momentum with four consecutive wins before the All-Star break. The absence of Aaron Judge, who remains sidelined with a rib injury, has not diminished his leadership presence off the field, with Chisholm emphasizing Judge’s contribution to team spirit.
Chisholm on Judge’s leadership: “He’s still a big voice in the clubhouse for us.”
Chisholm believes Judge’s return is crucial for the Yankees to combat their own 2009 championship drought. He envisions being part of a victorious parade like the Knicks experienced. “I’ve had that dream of us celebrating after the World Series just like the Knicks,” Chisholm shared.
Corona’s Beach Connect Series has brought together MLB stars, including Chisholm, to create signature jerseys reflecting their identities. For Chisholm, his Bahamian heritage inspires his design featuring island-inspired elements. The collaboration matches his relaxed, music-loving personality and beach lifestyle.
“It’s about enjoying life, music, and the beach mindset,” Chisholm explained, aligning his lifestyle with Corona’s vision.
