Helen Mirren’s Hollywood Hills Estate Hits the Market

Helen Mirren and her husband, director Taylor Hackford, are selling their historic Hollywood Hills estate for $12 million. The property, rich with entertainment history, presents a rare opportunity for buyers interested in a unique piece of Hollywood. Originally listed for $18.5 million in 2021, the asking price has been reduced.

Constructed in 1911, this estate was initially home to silent film star Dustin Farnum. Over the decades, it has welcomed notable figures such as journalist Mark Hellinger and actress-producer Gail Patrick, who worked on the original “Perry Mason” series. The property covers 6.5 acres and features a 10,199-square-foot main residence, guesthouse, office, apartment, swimming pool, and landscaped grounds. The outdoor dining patio and landscaped swimming pool offer stunning views of the city skyline.

The interiors, staged by Vesta Home, balance nostalgia and modern luxury. The rooms are decorated with silk rugs, green hues, wood accents, vintage furnishings, and black-and-white Hollywood photography. Mirren highlighted Ford’s friendly demeanor and resilience during filming, choosing to chat with crew members even in uncomfortable weather rather than retreating to a warm trailer.

Mirren, who holds multiple awards including five Emmys, an Academy Award, a Tony Award, four BAFTAs, and three Golden Globes, shared her observations on some older actors. She noted that some become grumpy despite their privileged status, whereas Brosnan and Ford remain enthusiastic and positive about their work.
