Senator Darline Graham Nordone’s Political Journey

Senator Darline Graham Nordone, sister of the late Senator Lindsey Graham, shared her political goals in an exclusive interview on “Hannity.” She announced her candidacy for a full U.S. Senate term this November, emphasizing her desire to continue her brother’s legacy. “He’s worked so hard for so long. I can’t let that die. I’ve got to step in and carry on his legacy,” she stated, expressing deep appreciation for Lindsey’s commitment to the people of South Carolina.

South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster recently appointed Graham Nordone to complete Lindsey Graham’s Senate term following his passing on July 11. She confirmed on Monday her intention to run for a complete six-year term, becoming South Carolina’s first female U.S. Senator.

Graham Nordone discussed her decision with Fox News, revealing a sense of “inner peace” about following in her brother’s footsteps to represent The Palmetto State. “It is a tremendous amount of pressure,” she admitted, “but I feel like I can do it. I feel an inner peace about it.” Unlike her brother, who was focused on international affairs like the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Graham Nordone plans to prioritize domestic matters important to South Carolinians.

She expressed concerns about local issues: “I used to see him on the talk shows discussing national security all the time. While protecting our borders and national security is important, we should also address what matters to the average person,” she explained. The senator highlighted concerns such as groceries, gas prices, healthcare, and insurance costs.

Lindsey Graham’s sudden death at age 71 was attributed to an aortic dissection due to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease. “It’s been extremely tough,” Darline Graham Nordone shared with Sean Hannity, expressing the profound loss she feels. “He was my rock, my brother, my mother, and my father,” she added.

Since 2019, Graham Nordone has been involved with South Carolina’s Commission for the Blind, where she managed a $90 million budget. The organization helps visually impaired individuals find employment. “It was a passion of mine, but I have a servant’s heart,” she said, emphasizing the importance of empathy in such roles.
