Mendoza Signs Massive Contract with Raiders

Quarterback Fernando Mendoza, who was drafted first overall this year, has agreed to a four-year deal with the Las Vegas Raiders. The contract totals $57.27 million, and the team retains an option for a fifth year.

Mendoza was the final signing among the Raiders’ ten draft selections. In a statement on social media, he expressed excitement about joining the team, stating, “I’m thrilled to have signed. Looking forward to being part of the silver and black.”

Although Mendoza participated with the third-team offense during organized team activities and minicamp, he is expected to play a larger role in the upcoming training camp, starting Wednesday.

Veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins, who recently inked a contract with $20 million guaranteed, is set to begin camp as the team’s lead quarterback. The duration of Cousins’ tenure as the number one quarterback is anticipated to be a central focus during the camp and possibly throughout the season.

Fernando Mendoza brings a strong collegiate record, having won the Heisman Trophy and led Indiana to a national championship in his final season.
