Justin Herbert, the Los Angeles Chargers quarterback, has announced his engagement to Madison Beer, a Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter. This news was shared through an Instagram post featuring Herbert proposing to Beer, with the caption, “Meet my fiancé.”
Congratulatory messages flooded in from the NFL, the Chargers, and singer Gracie Abrams.
The couple’s relationship became public last August. Beer was seen at several Chargers games last season, and they were spotted kissing on the sidelines. They also attended Los Angeles Dodgers and Lakers games together.
Herbert played a role in Beer’s “lovergirl” video released this spring. Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh has shown support for Herbert’s relationship, humorously offering a ride to the airport when Herbert took time off to travel with Beer on her tour.
Herbert, 28, starts his seventh season with the Chargers, opening training camp on Wednesday. The team is still aiming for its first playoff win of his tenure.
Beer, 27, gained fame after Justin Bieber shared a video of her singing “At Last” in 2012. A year later, she released her debut single and video, featuring an appearance by Bieber. Beer received Grammy nominations in 2024 and 2025, though she left the ceremony early due to social anxiety.
