Malik Nabers’ Return to Practice Boosts New York Giants

Nabers’ injury involved significant complications. He dealt with swelling before surgery, and later needed scar tissue removal to eliminate stiffness. Despite two surgeries, his status for the season opener remained uncertain.

General Manager Joe Schoen expressed optimism about Nabers’ recovery. He emphasized following medical advice and listening to Nabers’ feedback. “We’ve got a really good plan for him,” Schoen said. “As long as everything goes as planned, we’ll listen to Malik and his body. We hope he’ll be ready, but there are no predictions right now.” Nabers’ performance in West Virginia encouraged both the team and management.

Nabers suffered an ACL and meniscus tear while jumping for a pass during quarterback Jaxson Dart’s first start. The injury silenced the MetLife Stadium crowd. Fortunately, since the injury happened early in the season, hopes are high that Nabers will recover in time for Week 1. His absence from the physically unable to perform list at training camp signals good progress.

Head coach John Harbaugh praised Nabers’ performance. “He looked good,” Harbaugh said. “He’s got a process going and thought he looked good.”

Quarterback Jaxson Dart, who wished Nabers a happy 23rd birthday on Instagram, appreciated having him back. “He definitely has a presence,” Dart stated. “An aura on the field that is exhilarating.
