Residents of Piddington, a small village in England, are planning to hold a symbolic referendum as a form of protest against the British government’s decision to house asylum seekers in a nearby unused military barracks. This move reflects the community’s strong disapproval of the plan.
The decision to use the Ministry of Defense site near the village of Piddington could lead to as many as 1,250 asylum seekers being accommodated there, significantly outnumbering the village’s own population.
