Barry Manilow Reschedules Concert Amid Health Concerns

Barry Manilow postponed his concert in Kentucky shortly before it was set to begin. The decision, announced 45 minutes prior to the show, was due to unexpected circumstances. Manilow, diagnosed with lung cancer last year, shared the update on social media platform X. No further details were provided.

The late notice upset some fans who deemed it inconsiderate. However, others were supportive, sending wishes for his well-being. One user wrote, “Sending hugs, take care and remember you must come first.” Another expressed sympathy, saying, “Please look after yourself, Barry, sending much love and healing energy.”

In December, Manilow shared that he had been diagnosed with early-stage lung cancer. Doctors found a cancerous spot on his left lung following bronchitis. Manilow explained on Instagram that an MRI revealed the spot, highlighted by his doctor after a lengthy illness. He expressed gratitude for the early detection and the quality care he received.

He stated, “The bad news is that now that the Christmas concerts are over I’m going into surgery.” He mentioned, “The doctors do not believe it has spread.” Manilow humorously noted his recovery plan included “chicken soup and I Love Lucy reruns.”

In February, Manilow delayed further tour dates, describing a disheartening discussion with his surgeon. He shared, “My body wasn’t ready for a 90-minute show. My lungs weren’t ready yet.” While disappointed, he acknowledged the truth in his doctor’s assessment. “I had a feeling he’d say that. Deep down, my body knew what my heart didn’t want to admit,” he said.

Despite the setback, Manilow remains positive. In May, he announced, “Good news! I went to the doctor and he said I’m making great progress!” Still, his doctor advised against returning to his Las Vegas residency that month. Encouragingly, Manilow will return to stage for his June shows in the UK. “It’s going to be great to see you all in the UK,” he declared.

Manilow expressed anticipation for performing again and addressed his fans, “Westgate Las Vegas is my home away from home… and I’ll see you all in July.” He concluded with a warm invitation to his international audiences, emphasizing his upcoming performances in the UK.
