Masked Prowler in Boston’s Suburbs Raises Concerns

A well-to-do suburban area near Boston, Massachusetts, faces concerns over a masked individual captured on surveillance video outside a local residence. The Weston Police Department reported that security cameras at a private property recorded a person wearing a bicycle helmet and mask traversing the grounds between 2:30 and 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 2. Authorities are seeking public assistance regarding this ‘suspicious incident.’

Police have indicated that there is no sign that the suspect entered the home, yet the individual’s masked presence on the property during the night is unsettling. ‘Based on the circumstances, we believe the person’s intentions were likely not lawful,’ said the police. An image from the surveillance video shows the suspicious person prowling around the affluent neighborhood in Massachusetts.

With its proximity to Boston, Weston, Massachusetts is recognized for its high-end real estate and ranks among the state’s most exclusive locales. According to police, the figure seemingly emerged from a nearby trail and approached a property on Highland Street with a flashlight.

In one image shared by the department, the person appears to illuminate the house’s three-car garage with a flashlight. Another instance shows the individual seemingly carrying a hunting chair from the property toward the woods and is seen wearing a bicycle helmet.

Weston Police Chief Denis Linehan expressed concern over the incident, telling CBS Boston, ‘It’s creepy, there is no doubt about it.’ He emphasized the alarming nature of the situation, saying, ‘Anytime you have someone on somebody else’s property masked, I don’t care what time of day it is, that is concerning, and then you add the factor that it is three in the morning and he was on that property for an extended period of time, we’re overly concerned.’

The unusual behavior has prompted authorities to urge nearby homeowners to review their security or doorbell camera footage from those early hours. The police stated, ‘Even footage showing someone walking, riding a bicycle, or leaving the area could be helpful to our investigation.’
