Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has criticized the White House for failing to inform Congress about a covert operation intended to avoid an Iranian threat. According to Schumer, the White House did not share details of this operation, at least with the Democratic members of Congress.
Schumer called on the White House to promptly update Congress regarding the secretive flight President Donald Trump took from Turkey the previous month. The call for transparency came after a Washington Post report revealed that an Iranian assassination threat led the White House to orchestrate an elaborate plan to obscure the president’s travel.
Schumer emphasized the importance of Congressional oversight and the need for the executive branch to keep elected officials adequately informed about such critical security measures.
