FDA Issues Highest Risk Warning for Recalled Salad Products

1 hour ago 0

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a Class I risk warning, the highest level, for dozens of recalled salad products due to potential contamination with harmful bacteria. The products, distributed by New York-based Made Fresh Salads, include ready-to-eat deli-style salads, assorted cream cheese products, and half-size aluminum pans. These items were voluntarily recalled in September.

Class I recalls are issued by the FDA when there is a ‘reasonable probability’ that use or exposure to a product could, in fact, cause serious adverse health consequences or result in death. Listeria monocytogenes, the bacteria in question, is known for its potentially serious health impacts, particularly on vulnerable populations, including the elderly, pregnant women, and individuals with weakened immune systems.

Altogether, 61 products have been classified under this recall. Distribution of these items occurred in Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, and New York City. They reached consumers through direct delivery to retail stores and distributors, raising concern over widespread exposure in these areas.

The situation is unfolding, and further details are expected as authorities continue to address this public health issue. Consumers in the affected areas should remain vigilant and check their purchases for any products included in the recall list.
