Trump’s Transparency Push on Unidentified Aerial Phenomena

Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed recent actions by President Donald Trump regarding unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) during an interview with Katie Miller on “The Katie Miller Podcast.” Rubio emphasized Trump’s willingness to disclose information if the administration had any conclusive data.

Rubio, responding to a question about conspiracy theories, focused on UAPs. He clarified that his interest in UAPs, which began during his time in the Senate, is due to unknown objects flying over military installations. He stated that these flying objects are not United States property, suggesting a need for serious investigation.

I don’t know what it is, but there are things flying over our military installations, and they’re not ours. We should look into this seriously.

Regarding administration transparency, Rubio stressed that if concrete evidence existed, President Trump would publicly reveal UAP images and videos. The Secretary of State believes in open communication, dismissing theories of governmental cover-ups under Trump’s leadership.

Further supporting transparency, the Pentagon has released several UAP videos in 2026. White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly highlighted Trump’s directive to the Department of War to make government files on alien and extraterrestrial life accessible, emphasizing Trump’s focus on full disclosure to the public.

Rubio conceded he had previously used UAP discussions as a distraction with reporters but acknowledged its importance as a legitimate topic. President Trump also directed federal agencies to waive nondisclosure agreements for former employees aiding UAP investigations.

In July, a senior administration official revealed Trump instructed the Department of War and the intelligence community to allow former employees with relevant information to cooperate through government channels, such as AARO or the President’s UAP task force, ‘PURSUE.’

The move, as clarified by another official, is not a declassification directive but allows employees to communicate through designated channels. Congressional inquiries and whistleblower allegations suggest some witnesses remained silent due to fears of NDA constraints.

President Trump has reinforced the need for disclosure by allowing former government personnel with relevant information to come forward, providing channels to bypass previous non-disclosure agreements.

Joshua Golembeske, Lead UFO Investigator for Gaia, commented on Rubio’s past use of UAPs as a diversionary tactic and criticized it. He pointed out Rubio’s past efforts to reduce stigma around UAP discussions, highlighting how current remarks contradict previous efforts to foster open reporting among pilots and witnesses.

Golembeske noted that Trump’s disclosure ambitions are contingent upon receiving accurate information. Former intelligence official David Grusch testified that certain programs were hidden from Congress and the Pentagon’s investigative office, AARO. Golembeske argued that Rubio’s lack of briefing does not eliminate the possibility of hidden agendas or projects.
