Unexpected Incident at LIV Golf Event: During the LIV Golf New York event, held at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster, a peculiar incident involving golfer Charl Schwartzel attracted attention. On the 134-yard, par-3 seventh hole, Schwartzel’s tee shot landed on the green, spun backward, and rolled into the water.

An unexpected participant was ready in the water. A largemouth bass swiftly emerged and swallowed the golf ball. Largemouth bass, known as ambush predators, typically feast on fish, crayfish, and frogs. They’ll also attack live baits like lizards and insects, but a Titleist golf ball was certainly a surprising choice.

Schwartzel, renowned for winning the 2011 Masters and the first LIV Golf event in 2022, faced the challenge with humor. While standings rules don’t penalize players if an outside influence, such as an animal, moves the ball at rest, Schwartzel’s ball had already entered a penalty area. He opted for relief and took a one-stroke penalty, finishing with a bogey.

Wildlife on golf courses isn’t uncommon; animals like alligators, birds, and even bears have made appearances. But a bass waiting to snap up a golf ball is quite unique.
