Arizona Cardinals Suffer Key Injuries in Preseason

1 hour ago 0

The Arizona Cardinals face challenges as key players suffer injuries during the preseason. Head coach Mike LaFleur announced that Jeremiyah Love, picked third overall in the 2026 NFL Draft, will miss at least a week due to an ankle injury sustained in a game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Love, who showed promise with 11 carries for 58 yards and three catches for 14 yards in his preseason debut, was in good spirits following the game but experienced soreness the following day. “He was in great spirits, even Friday,” LaFleur noted, indicating Love’s positive attitude despite the setback. LaFleur stated, “But we’ll keep him out this week as we let it heal.”

LaFleur refrained from speculating about Love’s status for Week 1, focusing instead on the immediate practice schedule in Tempe. Love will not participate in the next preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys, offering an opportunity for Tyler Allgeier to start, with Bam Knight and Corey Kiner providing support. Meanwhile, veteran back James Conner continues to recover from a separate foot injury.

In addition to Love, the Cardinals suffer more misfortune with second-round pick Chase Bisontis. Bisontis, aiming for the starting right guard spot, tore the MCL in his left knee during the same game. This injury places him on injured reserve, a significant loss for the offensive line. LaFleur confirmed, “He’ll be out for a good amount of time, if not the whole year.” He expressed empathy for Bisontis, stressing the disappointment for both the player and the team.

The team continues to adapt to these challenges as the preseason progresses, remaining cautious with key players to secure their return for the regular season.
