Pickleball, once a pastime mostly ignored, has surged in popularity at tennis courts and country clubs. When it first emerged, many assumed it wouldn’t gain much traction. Yet, injuries and conflicts among players have highlighted unexpected dangers.
In some matches, the game has turned physically aggressive, with players using paddles as weapons. There have been reports of players sustaining injuries, including a participant who suffered facial bleeding after a paddle-related confrontation.
PICKLEBALL IS DANGEROUS FOR NIPPLES.
Aside from physical altercations, players now face another, less known hazard: shots to the chest, particularly the nipples, which have proven to be extremely painful. Kaitlyn Kerr, a pickleball professional known as ‘Pickleball Chick’ on social media, shared her experience. She warned about this risk after taking a hit that left her in significant discomfort.
Kerr posted a video where, during a game, she was unexpectedly struck in the chest by a forceful serve. Her experience has resonated with others, who have shared similar stories, describing the pain as unbearable and lingering. Comments on Kerr’s post reveal further tales of players enduring these painful hits, some even contemplating quitting the game due to such incidents.
Players are advised to stay vigilant, keeping their paddles raised at all times on the court to avoid such injuries. While banning these shots isn’t feasible, individuals must take personal responsibility for their safety.
