DOJ Investigates Mamdani Amid Rising Antisemitism Concerns

The Department of Justice is investigating New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Allegations suggest unequal treatment of Jewish residents. Concerns about antisemitism in New York City are growing, highlighted by a DOJ letter seeking clarification.

Federal authorities are probing a nonprofit tied to Mamdani for allegedly funneling donor funds to a Palestinian group sanctioned by the U.S. The New York Post reported that the organization, known as PFF, is based in the U.K. and has around $100 million to support anti-Israel causes. PFF might have directed funds to Al-Haq, which faces U.S. sanctions.

“A new fund set up by Arabs in the US, UK, and Australia aims to challenge Israel,” said a source familiar with the operation to the Post.

Bassema Yousef, described as the “lynchpin” for PFF’s fundraising, was born in New York and is a Democratic donor now residing in London. Her social media contains anti-Israel comments.

The PFF was established with backing from donors such as Basil Qunibi in Austin, Texas, and Yasser Shahin, a motorsports magnate from Australia. Corporate documents confirm Shahin’s involvement. The IRS recognized PFF’s nonprofit branch in Delaware.

The PFF’s executives finance anti-Israel communications and support pro-Palestinian activists. The organization’s website states a commitment to justice, peace, and non-violence.

The Department of Homeland Security did not comment on the investigation. Homeland Security Investigations unit refrained from discussing specifics, stating they don’t comment on investigations or enforcement actions.

Reports indicate no criminal wrongdoing in the DHS inquiry. The situation remains under scrutiny by both federal agencies and news media.
