Fox Nation Explores Impact of Charlie Kirk Assassination on Evangel Christian Academy

Nearly a year after the assassination of Charlie Kirk, Fox Nation revisits its impact on a Christian private high school in Louisiana. The school is featured in the third season of the reality television series, God. Family. Football. This season highlights how the tragic event influenced Evangel Christian Academy, with Pastor and head football coach Denny Duron providing leadership during challenging times.

Duron, also known for his role as head coach, addresses his team about Kirk’s death in the series’ second episode. He admired Kirk and used his experiences as a platform to convey his message. In contrast to Kirk’s political approach, Duron chose football to spread his faith.

“That young man was a young man I admired,” Duron stated. “I have used football as my platform to be able to speak the name of Jesus to the world, but he used politics.”

In a practice held after Kirk’s death, Duron motivated his players to resist transforming their anger into violence. He emphasized forgiveness and the core tenets of Christianity, urging his team to avoid sin in the face of anger.

“There is a spirit of anger in the world today,” Duron expressed. “And there is no reason for you ever to be angry and commit a sin. If Jesus forgave you, for everything that he forgave you for and forgave me for, then you cannot hold anything against anybody for any reason. That’s what Christianity is all about.”

The team held a moment of silence to honor Kirk and prayed for peace. Off the field, the tribute continued in the academy’s classrooms, where Offensive Coordinator Kramer Hagan spoke with students about Kirk’s death. As a civics teacher, Hagan facilitated discussions on how the younger generation perceives such events and advocated for respectful debate without losing humanity.

Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was killed during an event in Utah. This tragedy became part of the series documenting the school’s football team, which also dealt with internal challenges like illness and facing difficult opponents.
