Journey’s drummer, Deen Castronovo, experienced a medical emergency during a concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The band halted their performance after just two songs as Castronovo, 62, was taken to the hospital. Bandmates requested fans to keep him in their prayers.

Keyboardist Jonathan Cain addressed concertgoers, expressing regret over the situation. He encouraged fans to pray for Castronovo, adding, “We’re going to see what happens as this progresses. It’s an unfortunate situation. We’re very sorry. We’re hoping it’s only a delay, but please — I’m sorry. Don’t worry. Have your prayers ready.”

Guitarist Neal Schon explained to the audience that the concert would continue with Steve Toomey, the band’s drum technician, stepping in. “Please give a big hand for Steve Toomey. We’ll be back in about 15 minutes. We love you all, we’re really sorry about the inconvenience,” Schon stated.

The concert resumed with lead singer Arnel Pineda offering reassurance, suggesting the issue could be related to “too much Gatorade.” Schon dedicated the night’s performance to Castronovo, expressing hope for his recovery and encouraging fans to pray for him.

“This concert’s for Deen tonight. I’d love you all to pray for him. Everybody’s been going through a lot. I think he’s going to be fine,” Schon remarked.

The cause of Castronovo’s emergency remains undisclosed. Journey representatives have not commented publicly. The incident occurred as the band continues their “Final Frontier Tour,” a farewell tour set to end in San Francisco on November 28. The tour lineup includes Jonathan Cain, Arnel Pineda, Jason Derlatka, and Todd Jensen.

Schon has described the tour as a celebration of Journey’s music and their fan base. He noted to Rolling Stone, “The music we’ve created together is amazing. And so, you have to celebrate that music with the fans. The fans are incredible.”
