2026 Midterm Power Rankings: Key Senate and House Races

52 minutes ago 0

Bill Hemmer, host of America’s Newsroom, and contributor Karl Rove have analyzed the 2026 midterm power rankings. They highlighted four Senate toss-up races in Alaska, Iowa, Maine, and Ohio, as well as 16 House toss-up seats. Significant attention is on the upcoming Democratic primary in Michigan on August 4, featuring progressive Abdul El-Sayed and establishment candidate Haley Stevens.

In Wyoming’s political landscape, Republican Secretary of State Chuck Gray attained the GOP nomination for the at-large U.S. House seat. Gray is favored to succeed Rep. Harriet Hageman, who is pursuing a Senate seat. Gray defeated competitors such as businessman Steve Friess and Reid Rasner in a crowded primary.

“Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray emerged as a prominent candidate, aligning closely with Trump-related conservative values since 2023.”

Rep. Harriet Hageman’s Senate candidacy prompted a series of open races, rendering this cycle momentous in Wyoming politics. Hageman, who prevailed over former Rep. Liz Cheney in 2022, targets the seat left by retiring Sen. Cynthia Lummis. Notably, Wyoming faces a unique scenario with concurrent open races for the governorship, Senate, and House, a rarity in recent decades.

The primaries, largely devoid of endorsements from Trump or Hageman, led candidates to vie for a similar conservative voter base. This is unlike the Senate and governor’s races, where Trump backed Hageman and Megan Degenfelder, respectively.

The Republican nominee is expected to triumph in the November elections. Wyoming’s staunch Republican identity is evident, as Trump won the state by 46 percentage points in 2024, his largest margin nationwide.

Historically, Wyoming has elected only one Democrat to a statewide position in over thirty years. Republicans dominate state politics, holding all statewide offices and majorities in the state legislature.
