Buffalo Bills Mourn Loss of Ed Oliver’s Son

The Buffalo Bills announced on Saturday the heartbreaking news of the death of Ed Oliver’s 2-year-old son. The organization expressed deep sympathy for the defensive tackle and his family. Brandon Beane, the team’s general manager, stated, “On behalf of the entire Buffalo Bills organization, we want to publicly express our condolences to Ed Oliver and his family on the devastating loss of his son. It’s an unthinkable tragedy for any parent. We will continue to support Ed and his family as we all grieve this tragic loss.”

The team did not reveal the cause of death. However, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office in Texas had attended to a fatal toddler drowning incident in June at an address matching where Oliver resides, according to property records. Deputies had found the toddler unresponsive in a swimming pool on Lago Trace Drive in Houston, Texas.

At the time, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez noted that the child was taken to a local hospital where they were pronounced deceased, though the victim’s identity was not disclosed. NBC News has sought comments from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and Oliver’s representatives.

Ed Oliver, 28, hails from Houston and played college football at the University of Houston. He is set to enter his eighth season in the NFL with the Buffalo Bills.
