NATO Fighter Jets Respond to Airspace Threat Near Romania

59 minutes ago 0

NATO has reacted swiftly by dispatching fighter jets following the approach of a suspected unmanned aerial vehicle near Romanian territory. This incident adds to the concerns that Russia’s ongoing conflict with Ukraine might extend into NATO regions.

Romania’s defense ministry reported on Tuesday the deployment of two Spanish Air and Space Force F-18 jets from the Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base 57. This response was due to the detection of an aerial target approximately two miles east of Vylkove, near the Ukraine-Romania border.

Residents living in the northern area of Tulcea County in Romania were alerted about potential falling debris and advised to seek shelter. The defense ministry has not disclosed if the suspected drone breached Romanian airspace.

This is a developing story. More updates will follow.
