LaMelo Ball’s Transition to Minnesota: Car Collection, Personal Driver, and Family Insights

LaMelo Ball’s extravagant car collection has been a topic of discussion since he became a basketball star. Recently, the Minnesota Timberwolves guard has opted to hire a personal driver to navigate his new NBA environment, according to his older brother, Lonzo Ball.

On a recent episode of the “Curious Mike” podcast, Lonzo Ball highlighted his younger brother when asked which family member spends the most money, alongside Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. Porter inquired, “Who in your family spends the most [money]?” Lonzo responded, “The one who has the most, LaMelo.”

LaMelo Ball’s Charlotte penthouse has garnered attention for its distinctive decoration, as he shifts to Minnesota following a trade to the Timberwolves earlier in the offseason. In discussing his brother’s vehicles, Lonzo revealed, “[He’s] got 10 cars.” Employing a driver might reduce LaMelo’s chances of encountering road accidents.

“He’ll buy a $1 million car and then just immediately mess it up. I’ve never understood [that],” Lonzo remarked. “You just bought that? And then you ripped it up? You could’ve just got a beater.”

Lonzo mentioned that although his brother “doesn’t get into accidents, he has a lot of situations on the road.” Lonzo recalled his own experiences, having been drafted second overall by the Lakers in the 2017 NBA Draft, then playing for the New Orleans Pelicans, Chicago Bulls, and Cleveland Cavaliers, before being waived by the Utah Jazz in 2026.

Lonzo’s NBA journey has been fraught with injuries. He only participated in 35 games during the 2021-22 season and spent over two years off the court. Reflecting on his prolonged absence, Lonzo said, “It was like 1,000 and something days.” He has reconciled with the possibility of not regaining his former athletic prowess after multiple injuries.

LaMelo, picked third overall in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Hornets, was part of a trade that sent him and teammates to the Timberwolves for Naz Reid and several draft picks.
