The following day, at 7 a.m., Andria answered the phone again, expecting her sister. Instead, it was Makayla’s husband, Frank Byers. Frank was in hysterics. He claimed Makayla did not return home after a date with a bald man driving a white truck.
Andria did not worry initially, thinking Makayla was simply living her single life after separating from Frank. Concern set in when Makayla did not answer repeated calls and failed to appear at the family restaurant.
Eventually, Frank reported Makayla missing to the Sheriff’s Office, setting off a search operation led by Deputy Dustin Richardson.
