Probation Motion Filed for Game Attendance

Patrick Mahomes Sr., currently serving probation after a guilty plea for driving while intoxicated, has filed a request to attend his son’s NFL games this season. The motion was submitted on Friday at the 7th District Court in Tyler, Texas. The request seeks permission for Mahomes Sr. to travel out of state for seven games held in Kansas City, Missouri; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Cincinnati, Ohio.

According to the motion, Mahomes Sr. acknowledges the requirements to leave the state. These include undergoing urinalysis testing both before and after travel, as well as notifying a supervising officer whenever he departs the state.

Background and Legal Conditions

Mahomes Sr. had pleaded guilty in 2024 to driving while intoxicated, receiving a sentence of five years probation. In February 2026, he was arrested for violating probation terms by consuming alcohol, as confirmed by Smith County District Attorney Jacob Putman. This breach resulted in an additional two-year extension of his probation.

The filed motion highlights that Mahomes Sr. has completed 16 weeks of outpatient treatment and 160 hours of community service. It also outlines his compliance with current probation conditions, including monitoring via an ankle bracelet, verified by a Smith County community supervision officer.

Mahomes Sr. Awaits Court Decision

Though OutKick sought comments from Mahomes Sr.’s attorney and representatives, no immediate response was available.

Looking ahead to the NFL season, the Kansas City Chiefs face the Denver Broncos in Week 1 on Monday Night Football. While not officially confirmed as a starter, Patrick Mahomes seems poised to play, following surgery in December to address knee ligament damage. The two-time MVP has actively participated in training, but did not appear in preseason games.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid remarked, “He’s going to keep practicing just like he’s been doing. These are more like practice here, a lot of one-versus-one play these next couple of days. That’s a good thing.”
