Trump’s Endorsement Impacts New Hampshire GOP Primary

The Republican primary race in New Hampshire saw President Donald Trump’s influence at play as his endorsed candidate, Anthony DiLorenzo, emerged victorious. DiLorenzo, a businessman, secured the nomination for the 1st U.S. House district, defeating Hollie Noveletsky and State Rep. Brian Cole. This win underscores Trump’s lasting impact on Republican primaries.

The seat in question, currently held by Democrat Rep. Chris Pappas, is rated D+2 by the Cook Partisan Voting Index, suggesting a slight Democratic favor. With Pappas opting for a U.S. Senate bid, the district, which includes Manchester, becomes a key battleground for both parties.

The GOP candidates largely shared positions on key issues during debates. However, DiLorenzo faced scrutiny for his views on illegal immigration. His comments on prioritizing the deportation of criminals and not just focusing on non-criminals sparked debate among his opponents.

During a debate on WMUR, DiLorenzo’s opponents, Noveletsky and Cole, criticized his stance. Noveletsky argued against DiLorenzo’s position, saying, “Unlike Anthony, I believe illegal entry shouldn’t lead to a path towards citizenship.” DiLorenzo defended his view, emphasizing the need to prioritize deporting dangerous criminals.

Trump showed his support for DiLorenzo on Truth Social, citing his business acumen and endorsement of “America First Policies” as reasons for his backing. High-ranking Republicans, including House Speaker Mike Johnson and Majority Leader Steve Scalise, also endorsed DiLorenzo.

In contrast, Noveletsky received endorsements from various New Hampshire officials and House Rules Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx, highlighting the competitive nature of the race.
