Chicago Bears Aim for Super Bowl After Stellar Season

The Chicago Bears completed an eventful NFL season under the guidance of their first-year head coach, Ben Johnson, with star quarterback Caleb Williams leading the way. They secured the top spot in the NFC North and made it to the NFC Divisional Round. Williams emerged as a formidable quarterback, accumulating nearly 4,000 passing yards in his sophomore year.

Despite this success, Coach Johnson has ambitious plans for the team. He stated, “Our goal is to win the Super Bowl. I want more than that. I want to have the highest-scoring offense ever, like the 2013 Denver Broncos. I know how many points per game they scored, and I want to surpass them. I want shutouts. I want blowouts.” That Broncos team set a high bar, averaging 37.9 points per game with Peyton Manning. Last season, the Bears averaged 25.9 points per game.

Receiver Luther Burden suffered an injury during training camp, but it’s not expected to keep him out long. Despite challenges, the Bears are focusing on improving both offense and defense. Last season, their defense came close to a shutout with a 31-3 victory over the Cleveland Browns, but did not achieve a full shutout.

Training camp has seen some injuries, including safety Coby Bryant, who will be absent for up to six months, and corner Kyler Gordon, who is dealing with a calf injury. These setbacks come as the team prepares for a demanding schedule.

The Bears are set to start their preseason against the Cleveland Browns on Saturday, August 15. They will face tough competition in the regular season, beginning with the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, August 13, followed by a game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, August 20. Other challenging matchups include games against the Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks, and critical NFC North rivals.

Fox Sports has projected Chicago’s over/under wins total at 9.5 games, with the under favored. This estimate suggests potential regression from their outstanding 2025 season, contrasting with Johnson’s Super Bowl aspirations.
