Patriots Face Setback as A.J. Brown Sustains an Ankle Injury

The New England Patriots faced a tough week after their loss to the Seattle Seahawks. On top of their 13-10 defeat, results from an MRI on Thursday revealed that wide receiver A.J. Brown has a high ankle sprain. Reports indicate he might miss three to six weeks of game time.

Head coach Mike Vrabel mentioned the uncertainty of Brown’s immediate availability, stating, “I don’t know if he’ll be available going forward here for the next week, but we’ll see. Once we get the report, we’ll figure out what the treatment plan is.”

A.J. Brown, playing as the No. 1 receiver for the Patriots, was injured during the third quarter of the game. The incident occurred when Seahawks cornerback Nehemiah Pritchett’s knee hit Brown’s ankle, pushing it into the ground.

Initially questionable to return, Brown was eventually ruled out for the rest of the game. Before leaving, he managed three catches for 26 yards and drew a defensive pass interference penalty, which set up the team’s only touchdown.

The Patriots, who acquired Brown in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles involving first- and fifth-round draft picks, had high hopes for his contribution to the team’s offense.

In Brown’s place, quarterback Drake Maye will look to his other options. Romeo Doubs, who signed a four-year, $68 million contract with the Patriots, along with Mack Hollins, Demario Douglas, and Kyle Williams, will need to step up.

Doubs faced a key moment with a drop during the game on a second-and-14 play that cost a potential first down. This misstep was followed by Maye throwing one of his three interceptions in the fourth quarter.

The Patriots, now 0-1 in the season, aim to recover as they head into their Week 2 match against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
