Aaron Rodgers openly discussed the end of his relationship with Shailene Woodley. In a conversation with his Pittsburgh Steelers teammate Cam Heyward on the podcast “Not Just Football,” Rodgers shared details about their engagement and breakup.
Rodgers mentioned he met Woodley during the COVID-19 pandemic, and they quickly moved in together. By 2021, he announced their quiet engagement. Unfortunately, they split about a year later. Rodgers said, “I date Shailene, I propose and she says yes.” However, he felt she seemed forced into the decision. He revealed, “Not a couple of days after that, she tells me before we get married like, ‘I got to go f–k this guy.’”
“Her story is, I ruined her life and gave her crazy depression because I left her, but in actuality, she told me that and took off the ring by March.”
Rodgers stated they attempted to reconcile several times without success. He remarked, “There wasn’t even a relationship in ’22 to break off. She literally told me I don’t want to be with you.” He added that the peak of the fame of those he previously dated was during their time with him.
While Woodley’s representatives did not provide a comment, she addressed the breakup in a 2022 interview with Outside magazine. Woodley said she hadn’t shared much because discussing it always brought her to tears. She described the relationship as “not right” but acknowledged its beauty. Without naming Rodgers, she mentioned experiencing a “really awful, traumatic thing” in early 2022, which led to six months of depression.
Shailene Woodley attended The Walt Disney Company’s Emmy Season Toast to TV, expressing a desire to move forward.
