Chris Pratt: A Journey from TV Roles to Blockbuster Movies

Chris Pratt is well-known for his contributions to film and television. He gained prominence for his portrayal of Andy Dwyer in the TV series Parks and Recreation. More recently, he returned to television by acting in and producing the Amazon Prime series The Terminal List, in which he plays Navy SEAL James Reece. Pratt’s film success includes roles in Jurassic World and the Guardians of the Galaxy series.

Born on June 21, 1979, in Virginia, Minnesota, Pratt grew up in Lake Stevens, Washington. His entry into acting was rather unique. As he shared with Men’s Health, Pratt once lived in Maui, waiting tables at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. while living in his van. During this time, a film director noticed him and inquired if he was an actor, leading to his audition for a short film titled Cursed Part 3, marking the start of his acting career.

Following Cursed Part 3 in 2000, Pratt landed the role of Bright Abbot in the TV series Everwood, appearing from 2002 to 2006. He also appeared in The O.C. from 2006 to 2007 as Che, before gaining widespread recognition for Parks and Recreation, which aired from 2009 to 2015. The release of the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie in 2014 saw Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord. He reprised his role in another Guardians of the Galaxy movie in 2017, and in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Thor: Love and Thunder in 2022. His portrayal of Owen Grady in the Jurassic World series is another key role, beginning in 2015 and continuing through Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in 2018 and Jurassic World Dominion in 2022. Other notable films starring Pratt include The Magnificent Seven, Passengers, and The Tomorrow War.

According to IMDb, Pratt will appear in another Guardians of the Galaxy film in 2023. He is also set to voice Mario in a Super Mario Bros film and Garfield in another movie scheduled for 2023.

Regarding his personal life, Pratt was married to Anna Faris for eight years. They met on the set of Take Me Home Tonight in 2007 and have a son, Jack, born in August 2012. Pratt and Faris maintain a friendly relationship following their separation in 2017. In 2019, Pratt married Katherine Schwarzenegger, daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger. The couple, who began dating in 2018, have two children: Lyla Maria, born in August 2020, and Eloise Christina, born in May 2022.
