Chris Pratt’s Journey from Waiting Tables to Hollywood Star

60 minutes ago 0

Chris Pratt’s rise in Hollywood began under humble circumstances. Before becoming a renowned action star, he lived in a van in Hawaii and worked as a waiter at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. The turning point came when actor Rae Dawn Chong visited the restaurant where he worked. Pratt approached her and expressed his interest in acting. This interaction led to a significant opportunity.

Without a phone, Pratt gave Chong his friend’s number. Days later, his friend relayed that Chong had called for Pratt. He promptly returned her call and was invited to audition for a role. Despite his limited resources, with only $60 to his name, Pratt learned that Chong would fly him to Los Angeles for the film production.

The movie, a low-budget horror comedy titled ‘Cursed Part 3,’ offered Pratt his first acting role. He fondly remembers this as the start of his Hollywood career and remains grateful to Chong for her trust in him.

Pratt’s career gained momentum with notable roles. A significant break was his portrayal of Andy Dwyer in ‘Parks and Recreation.’ Later, his role as Peter Quill or Star-Lord in Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ solidified his status. Pratt credits director James Gunn for transforming his career, eliminating the need for further auditions and reshaping industry’s perception of him.

Beyond Marvel, Pratt expanded his repertoire with diverse roles. He starred in the ‘Jurassic World’ franchise, lent his voice to characters in ‘The Lego Movie,’ and performed in ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie.’ He also took leading roles in films like ‘Passengers,’ ‘The Magnificent Seven,’ and ‘The Tomorrow War.’ Since 2022, he has been part of the TV series ‘The Terminal List.’

Pratt’s personal life features significant milestones as well. He was married to actress Anna Faris, and they have a son named Jack. Later, Pratt married Katherine Schwarzenegger, sharing three children with her. He considers fatherhood a profound blessing, acknowledging both its challenges and joys.
